Wednesday 12 AUGUST 2009

Well, 5 of us attended the "Southampton Over 50's Festival" which was opened by the Sheriff of Southampton at 10.30 a.m. in the Southampton Guildhall.

Bon Marche, from Shirley, put on a fashion show for us and bravo for the brave ladies who modelled the clothes. There was not much in the way of green for us ladies but you can always go and have a look in their shop.

This was followed by Tai Chi instructor, Keith Sharp, giving a few minutes introduction to the Art of Tai Chi followed by a 7 minute demonstration - I did not time it, Keith himself told us it would last that long.

The stalls around the hall itself were very few. There were 3 ladies doing the most exquisite lacemaking, (or was it tatting) and there were some really beautiful handmade beaded jewellery which was rather pricey for this sort of event. There were also handmade cards at very reasonable prices and two other crafts which would both need your own input of photographs.

Suddenly it was lunch time and as there was no food to be had in the hall, we left what was a disappointing event.
