Operation Christmas Child

This year, we decided to save the environment and not send each other Christmas cards.  Instead, we made donations of toys, toiletries and other items for the scheme Operation Christmas Child, which sends shoeboxes to children in war torn countries, areas of natural devastation and others living in poverty.

Along with the items, we also made a donation of £2 each as each shoebox needs to be accompanied by £2.50 for administration and transport costs.

Jonquil Joan collected all the shoeboxes, wrapped them in Christmas paper and then divided all the donated items between boys and girls with differing age groups.  She had a rather large task as we were all so generous and she managed to make 10 shoeboxes full of gifts!

Well done Joan for all your efforts on our behalf.  We are very grateful and we feel sure that many children will benefit from all your hard work.
